Eco Shavings - A Bedding Solution that’s Good for the Environment
If you have been experiencing disposal problems with traditional wood shavings, Barr-Ag’s environmentally friendly bedding could be the solution. As our equine customers have been telling us, traditional wood shavings take a long time to decompose so they adversely affect the quality of the soil where they are spread. This renders the land infertile for a substantial amount of time. Some equine operations have limited space to pile their shavings and many landfill sites will no longer receive them.
Unlike wood shavings, our Eco Shavings are made from chopped, non-GMO wheat or oat straw which has been compressed in specialized equipment. The shavings decompose readily and don’t destroy the ph balance of the soil where they get dumped or spread. Eco Shavings are treated with a safe, proprietary citrus extract which renders the shavings unpalatable, eliminates dust and has deodorizing characteristics.
Eco Shavings are available in 3-cubic-foot bags which weigh between 20 and 30 kg. They can be shipped palletized and in shrink wrap in 36 or 42-foot containers or sent in half-container loads.
